CARBON FOOTPRINT
& SUSTAINABILITY

Local resources on a global scale

Climate change is something both individuals and businesses need to think about and act on.  Here at SQS we are passionate about solutions to climate change, we’ve been taking positive steps to improve how we work and how we can help our customers.

How we are helping our clients:

Carbon Footprint Tracker

The SQS Carbon Footprint Tracker is a free report issued with every visit showing exactly how choosing SQS local inspectors has improved our clients carbon footprint. It takes all aspects into consideration and shows the difference made from the client not attending themselves.

Local Resources

Sterling Quality Services has a network of over 2000 handpicked Inspectors, covering 48 countries globally. This network of local expertise not only aids our clients in reducing their carbon footprint but also local content requirements.

Video Conferencing

SQS manages virtual meetings and conference calls for Kick off meetings, Pre Inspection meetings, Remedial action meetings and general update sessions.

Remote follow ups for closeout issues to reduce carbon footprint and client costs.

What SQS is Doing

SQS have taken steps to reduce their carbon footprint as a business by the following measures:

  • All staff are homebased, and only travel into the office when absolutely necessary

  • 98% of SQS procedures had some printing requirements, these have now all been successfully converted to digital procedures with no printing requirements.

  • Set up an EMS management system and successfully got certified ISO14001 to show our commitment.

  • SQS also signed up with the SME climate hub and committed to -

    • Halve greenhouse gas emissions before 2030

    • Achieve net zero emissions before 2050

    • Disclose progress on a yearly basis

  • SQS are proud to be recognised by the United Nations Race to Zero campaign, and join governments, businesses, cities, regions, and universities around the world that share the same mission.

  •  The biggest long term decision SQS have made, is to the development strategy of the business. SQS will no longer look to increase the number of offices they have globally as this has a massive impact on their carbon footprint. As can be seen from so many other companies, SQS can be even more effective by being more flexible with their team working from home. The cost on the planet for heating, lighting and powering multiple offices is significant, so SQS have decided to build a better, more flexible business model for a brighter, greener future.
