Welcoming Terry Hewitt – Our New Project Coordinator!
We’re excited to welcome Terry Hewitt to the SQS team as our new Project Coordinator! Terry brings a wealth of experience, starting with 12 years in the armed forces, where he served on operational tours in Kosovo and Iraq. After leaving the army, he became an inspector for BP, working in the oil and gas industry before going freelance for over 12 years. Alongside his inspection work, he gained mechanical engineering qualifications and later spent a year as an ISO 9001:2015 internal auditor at RAF Shawbury. Terry is no stranger to SQS, having worked with us as an inspector over the years. Wanting to reduce his time spent traveling for work, he saw the perfect opportunity to join SQS full-time when this role became available. With his hands-on technical knowledge and deep understanding of inspection processes, Terry is ready to streamline operations and provide quicker responses to client queries, ensuring smooth communication between clients and onsite inspectors. Outside of work, Terry leads a busy family life with four children and three energetic dogs that keep him on his toes! He’s also working on getting his campervan back on the road, ready for weekend coastal getaways. And if that wasn’t adventurous enough—he’s an adrenaline junkie who enjoys skydiving in Seville, Spain! We’re thrilled to have Terry on board and look forward to seeing the impact he’ll make at SQS. Welcome to the team!

SQS Plants Trees & Helps Veterans
SQS, has partnered with Rewards.Earth and the Green Task Force to plant 30 trees—an initiative that not only offsets carbon emissions but also provides ‘green therapy’ for military veterans. The Green Task Force is a unique charity dedicated to supporting veterans and service leavers by offering nature-based therapy and pathways to employment. Their mission addresses two key challenges: environmental sustainability and veteran wellbeing. The tree-planting event took place at the charity’s headquarters in Hull, where SQS Managing Director, Lisa Roberts, joined veterans and colleagues to personally plant 30 trees. Each tree will provide a lasting source of therapy while also offsetting 0.7 tonnes of CO₂ over its lifetime. Lisa Roberts, MD at SQS, commented: "As a company, we are proud to be carbon neutral, but we are always striving to do more—for our clients, for the environment, and for the communities we serve. When the opportunity arose to support veterans through tree planting, it was an easy decision. The Green Task Force is an incredible charity, and we look forward to working with them on future initiatives." This initiative was made possible through Rewards.Earth, a charity that supplies trees to the Green Task Force while also helping businesses and individuals achieve their sustainability goals and live carbon-neutral lifestyles. SQS, headquartered in Stockport, Manchester, operates globally across 48 countries with a network of over 2,000 inspectors, continuing to integrate sustainability and social responsibility into its business practices.
